Southeast Bookstore is owned and operated by Southeast Missouri State University for the
benefit of our community. You help support the University through purchases made at our
store since all proceeds from our operations are returned to the University. Thank you for
   your support!

Southeast Bookstore is located on the first floor of the University Center, on the
corner of Normal and Henderson.  Guest parking is available directly across the
   street from the Bookstore entrance.

  Textbooks
  1.  Shop early and buy used books!  Not all textbooks are available for rent.  Some items, such as study
guides, paperbacks and supplemental materials must be purchased from Southeast Bookstore.  We know
the price of textbooks is high, and we do try to keep the costs low.  The first thing we do is carry as many
used books as possible, because they save you 25% off the new price.  Everyone wants used books, so
shop for your books as soon as you can.

  2.  Return a book promptly if a class has been dropped or if the professor has decided to teach from the text.
The Bookstore only carries items requested by the instructor and only for a limited time.  Students can get a
full refund through the first two weeks of the semester with an original receipt if the book is in it's original
condition.  (The Bookstore limits the refund period because most publishers require that we return books to
to them by a certain date).

  3.  Sell your books back at the end of the semester!  Our first source for used textbooks is the students!  If
an instructor has requested a textbook for the next semester, Southeast Bookstore will pay students 50% of
the purchase price until the used book order is filled.  If the book is not being used, we contract with a company
to buy the book for a wholesale price that is set by book demand.

  Student Charge

Q. What is student charge and how does it work?
  A. Student Charge allows students to purchase bookstore items with their Southeast ID and charge it to their
University account.  Student Charge is available to
any student
enrolled in the current semester.
Students may not Student Charge if they are not officially
enrolled or if their University account is delinquent.

Q. Is there a limit to how much students may charge?
  A. The University allows registered students to charge the cost of their books and supplies to their Southeast
account up to $500.  Once the $500 limit is reached, another form of payment is required.  Students may track
the status of their account by keeping their Bookstore receipts.  When a purchase is made with Student Charge,
the receipt will indicate the remaining balance of the account.

  Q. How will I be billed for Bookstore purchases?
  A. If a student has excess financial aid, the bookstore charges will be deducted from the financial aid award.
All remaining balances will be on the student's account.  Students are required to monitor their own financial
accounts and make payments by established due dates.  Failure to pay by the due dates may result in late
  fees, holds, and/or cancelation.

  Q. May a parent inquire about what their student charges at the Bookstore?
  A. We truly want to work with you on this.  The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA),  passed by
Congress in 1974,  protects the confidentiality of student's educational records.  This is a good thing for
students but can be really frustrating for parents.  Because of this act, a student must make the inquiry.

  Q. Can a student use a parent's credit card for making Bookstore purchases?
  A.  Because of the recent changes in credit card consumer protection laws, the card holder must be present with
their card and valid ID.  We strongly encourage parents to purchase a Southeast Bookstore gift card or have a
credit card issued in the student's name.  If a student needs to make a return, we must have the original receipt
and the credit card that was used to make the purchase.  We can not take credit card information over the phone.
